I have produced email blasts, newsletters and announcements with various non-profit organizations and university programs. In order to communicate a message to subscribers and potential ones, I needed to find a way to prioritize information, design an engaging interface and above all, personalize the message. Subscribers are, after all, people which can at times be forgotten when immersing in the click-throughs and analyzing the results. By focusing on the message and making and effort to be genuine and truthful, I have found that people respond in a big way. They want to be informed but they do not like being “sold to.” Content should be unique to them, to their lifestyle, occupation, age and socio-economic status.
I’ve worked in programs iContact, Constant Contact, MailChimp and Hootsuite, as well as Outlook to customize content and then analyze the results. I am continually searching for new and more effective ways to incorporate personalized content for subscribers; to engage, inform and to bring them into the conversation.
